The 38-year old tactician joins Bayern from Burnley

Bayern Munich has finally appointed Vincent Kompany as their new head coach. The new deal will see Kompany stay at the club until 2027.

The 38-year-old will be taking over his new role from Thomas Tuchel, who decided to part ways with Bayern Munich at the end of this season.

Bayern Munich Chief Executive Officer Jan-Christian Dreesen said Kompany is their ideal coach since he represents the togetherness and team spirit needed in the club. Adding that his arrival will bring fresh ideas and lead the club to greater heights.

“Vincent Kompany is the right coach for FC Bayern Munich and we are very much looking forward to working with him,’ said Dreesen.

Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund says Kompany’s philosophy and identity fit well with the club. He labelled him a young ambitious coach with international experience. “He has his fingers on the pulse when it comes to the players and knows exactly what needs to happen on the pitch,” revealed Freund.

In his part, Kompany said it is a great honour to work for the club.

“Am looking forward to the basics - working with the players, building a team. Once the basis is right, success will follow,” Kompany shared.

Vincent Kompany had a decorated career at Mancity where he spent 11 years. He was the long-serving captain for the citizens winning four premier league four times with them.

In 2020, the Belgian international started his coaching career as a player-manager at Anderlecht. He later returned to England where he coached and managed to have Burnley promoted to the premier league during the 2022/23 season. After one season, Burnley was relegated again to the championship.
